THUNDERING HERDS!

Heartbreaking desert farmland,
hills torn by erosion.
Plants grow with each rain,
healing by animal medicine.

Sunrays turn into green trees,
clean water bubbles in fishing creeks.
Wind moves the clouds,
living soil blankets the ground.

People running with nature,
animal kingdoms hold true.
All life has a presence,
hooves awaken the silence.

Thundering herds,
thundering herds!
Thundering herds,

Feedlot gates are rusted,
CAFO cages trampled.
Herds run on lands' contours,
sunrises singing spirit lores.

Green puddles in thousands of hoof prints,
wind blows fertile seed in.
Children watch the grass grow,
elders feel renewed love.

Sun sets on the horizon,
grasses wave like the ocean.
Asphalt gives way to pebbles,
where hooves can more easily gallop.

Thundering herds,
thundering herds!

Antelopes springing up mesas,
fences are gone in some places.
Birds and bees sing their song,
mice and shrews peep along.

High lines are all taken down now,
electricity with no hum now.
Traffic crosses state lines,
yet pauses for great migrations.

Buffalo rise from mass graves!
Country boundaries become free ranges!
Life flows on the land,
abundance for generations.
